Day 01: Arrive Paro by Druk Air

Your Bhutanese escort from Destiny Bhutan will receive you upon arrival and drive you through the valley of Paro to the hotel.  Sightseeing at Paro town or be at leisure.

Afternoon Visit (Ta Dzong), the National museum housed in an ancient watchtower, which has a fine collection of ancient Thangka painting, textiles, weapons and artifacts. O/N Hotel

Day 02: Paro sightseeing

Drugyel Dzong

Morning hike to viewpoint of Taktshang, the Tiger’s Nest. This magical monastery clings to a vertical granite cliff 3,000 ft above the valley floor. The monastery was burnt in 1998 but has recently been reconstructed. It is one of the most holy places and all Bhutanese believe that they must visit it at least once in their lifetime.

On the way back drive to the ruins of Drugyel Dzong. This Dzong is of historical importance, from whose ramparts the Bhutanese repelled Tibetan invaders. On a clear day one can view the sacred Chhomolari (Mountain of Goddess) – 24,000 ft. And also Kyichu Lhakhang of one most religious sites of the country.

Day 03: Paro-Punakha

Morning visit, transfer to Punakha, on the way has explored the valleys, glimpse of Thimphu. Drive through Dochula Pass where one gets one of the most enchanting views in Bhutan. On a clear day, the one can get a good view of the Himalayan ranges and also see the Gasa Dzong at a distance. The journey continues through varying scenes of greenery all the way to Punakha.

The Punakha Dzong is set on the junction of the two rivers Phochu (male river) and Mochu (female river) and is one of the most spectacular Dzongs in the country. At present this Dzong serves as the winter residence for the Je Khenpo, Chief Abbot of the Central Monastic Body. Visit the Dzong if the monastic body has shifted to Thimphu for the summer.

Day 04: Punakha – Gangtey

Morning drive along the Pochu river, visit Crown Prince Lhakhang, explore the valleys the Crown Princes’ Monastery. Later visit Chimey Lhakhang the Temple of the Divine Mad Man; this is the Temple of Fertility.

After lunch transfer to Gangtey/Phobjikha valley, the winter home of rare species bird Black Neck Crane.

Visit Gangtey Gompa and evening at leisure. O/N Gantey.

Day 05: Gantey – Thimphu.

Morning visit to Phobjikha Valley, watch the black neck crane and later transfer to Thimphu, lunch on the way.

At Thimphu, visit National memorial Chorten built by Queen Grandmother in the memory of Lt. King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck and later scroll down town. O/N Hotel

Day 06: Thimphu Sightseeing.

Morning visit to Changangkha Lhakhang, Motithang Mini zoo to see the National Animal “Takin” drive to view point from where you can see the beautiful views of Thimphu. Have bird eyed view of Tashichodzong the Parliament House of the country.

Visit National Library, folk heritage Museum and school of Arts and crafts. . 

Buddhist manuscripts and the Institute of Traditional Medicine, where centuries old healing arts are still practiced. Stroll through Thimphu town.

Day 07: Thimphu-Paro

Morning visit the Weekend Market in Thimphu (If your visit falls on week days), Bhutan Post Office to see the collection of Bhutanese Stamps and Made paper factory. After lunch transfer to Paro

Day 08: Paro-Departure

Paro

Early breakfast at hotel and drive to Paro Airport.
